Occasions for Stationery
We get asked often about what it is that we design stationery for and the short answer is: all the things! We create paper and stationery goods for a long list of events, clients, and more. I heard a funny quote last night while watching The Office where Michael Scott said, “Dunder Mifflin: Endless Paper in a Paperless World”. It’s a funny statement because it’s true. We are transitioning into a world where paper is used less and less. Raise your hand if you have moved to paperless billing, you set up a last-minute e-vite and email it to friends, you create a Facebook event or group because it’s easier to reach all the people? We understand - and we can’t fault you for that. We’ve been guilty of all the above from time to time, but it doesn’t change the fact that a traditional, hold-in-your-hand invitation is timeless and that will never go away. Adding that invitation to a baby book is essential to a new momma, or a shadowbox for a proud grandmomma, or even framing it and giving it as a gift to the honoree - those important things will never go away. So let’s talk about a few important occasions for which you can utilize stationery!
In a perfect world, we would like to imagine that no one would send an e-vite or a Facebook invitation to a wedding, but we certainly know that it happens. This is such a monumental time in a couples’ life and sending an invitation to your big day is so important for your guests and for yourself! a few of the items you can also add to the list for wedding stationery:
Save the Dates: Sending these a few months prior to the invitation can help guests mark their calendars
Insert Card: Add this in with the invitation to provide additional details like overnight accommodations for the big day
Programs: This will help guests follow along with the events happening on the big day
Signage: No matter how small or how big, a simple sign can tell guests what drinks are available at the bar, which way to the restrooms and so much more!
Menu: You can tell guests what they are eating with a simple card at each place setting or even a larger sign at the front of a buffet
Placecards/Escort Cards: Tell guests where they are sitting with all the details on smaller cards
Table Numbers: An essential piece of the puzzle when telling guests where to sit - we love creating these out of paper, wood, acrylic and more - get unique with it!
Thank You Cards: Wrap up the big day with a postcard, folded card, etc.
The possibilities for wedding stationery items are endless and this is just an example of a few of the things that you might be able to use or create for your day!
Party stationery is so similar to wedding stationery! You can create invitations for the big day that also include all of the bells and whistles of wedding stationery - insert cards, printed envelope liners, and more. You aren’t limited to creating fancy invitations just for weddings, and we love it when clients step out of the box for their party stationery. Here are just a few parties/events for which you can create stationery:
Baby Showers and Sprinkles
Similar to a party invitation, but this doesn’t invite guests to any type of celebration, but rather just informs them of changes or information that they might need to know! Let someone know that you have moved, that you’ve had a baby, and more! We’ve created a short list of some items for which you could send announcements:
Truth be told, you don’t need a special occasion for stationery at all! You can use stationery everyday and we see clients do just that! Sending a special note, using a letterhead in your daily business life - these are all reasons to use stationery in the everyday! We love keeping a small stack of thank you cards for sending notes to friends, and more.
